WHY I'M RUNNING
New Mexico, particularly Albuquerque—which encompasses nearly half of the state's population—has unfortunately become a subject of national ridicule. We consistently rank among the highest crime rates and the lowest in educational achievement. These issues are neither mysterious nor insurmountable. The root of our problems lay in the ill-conceived laws passed by our legislature, compounded by city government decisions.
Our state government is not lacking in funds. In recent years, a surge in oil and gas tax revenues have resulted in billions in budget surpluses. Used wisely, these resources can fully fund the necessary reforms to income and gross receipts taxes.
